The long anticipated fight between Pacquiao vs Mayweather is tentatively scheduled for March 13, 2010, the LA Times reported Wednesday. Floyd Mayweather has agreed to the terms for the welterweight title fight, but Pacquiao has still to review the details of contract.
Manny Pacquiao is the bigger draw and made more pay-per-view money this year then Floyd Mayweather, but they are the top two money makers in boxing right now. Both fighters would like a date prior to May 1, 2010 and this date is the date that may work best for both sides.
"Of course," Freddie Roach, Manny’s coach told the LA Times, "Manny believes he should get a 60-40 [purse] split too, because he did better in pay-per-view than Mayweather this year. Manny's the bigger draw."
"March 13 is too fast a turnaround," said Roach. "I'd like to have more time. I hope the fight happens, yes, but I want us to be in the best possible shape." Manny broke his right eardrum during a fight with Miguel Cotto on November 14, 2009 and his manager said that more recovery time would be better.
